Air Show

The kids saw their first air show today and didn't last long. It was at Denton Regional Airport, only 10 min from our house, at 1pm....the HEAT of the day...and their nap time. We arrived just in time and saw 3 whole performances. By then Lucas could barely keep his eyes open and Isabel's legs "wouldn't work." It was a very good experience. Lucas really loves airplanes and helicopters, but rarely gets their names right!! We followed our neighbor, who is a helicopter pilot, to the show, and the kids were able to sit in his helicopters! In the pics is one of our friends and neighbors, Zach. We came home thinking the kids would take a good nap, and nope, no naps. They played with grammy all afternoon...which they really love. Then we took Isabel to see her first movie in the big theatre, UP. She did awesome!!! We had a great time.

cutie in a cap

Here is Lucas...finally putting on a cap. I don't think he has ever worn one. Isn't it cute!!! We have gotten through some pretty bad weather last night. Very strong winds and rain. No damage to our house or around the neighborhood, that I know of. I believe towns south of us had a tornado touch down, so we were very lucky. My rain gauge showed 2". It continued through this AM, but by 2pm it was a clear beautiful day. We headed outside and played with the neighbors for a couple of hours. Now we are inside having a snack and cooling off. I never thought it could be hotter than south texas, but north texas is some good competition. There is no gulf breeze here. And very crazy weather that changes rapidly.

swimming

We went swimming again yesterday and had a lot of fun. Lucas can't stand the bugs in the water. He stands there or latches on to you and screams "BUG"..."mommy look bug"....grabbing your face and turning it towards the bug. There are many bugs so we don't do much swimming, just screaming at the bugs. Isabel likes to make friends at the pool. She talks to every person within 10 feet from us. Looking forward to going back!!!

Swimming!!!

We have been trying to go to the pool frequently so the kids get used to the water, and learn good water safety. Isabel asks daily if we can go to the BIG pool. She uses her swimmies and swim ring and kicks around the whole pool. She thinks she is a big girl when she goes underwater (accidentally and screams for a minute). They really like the baby pool (in the pic). It is only 1 foot deep, and they feel more confident in it.

Arbuckle Wilderness

On Sunday we took a drive to Davis, Oklahoma which is less than an hour and a half from our house to Arbuckle Wilderness. It is a wild animal park that you drive through in your vehicle and see camels, zebras, rhinos, and many more. We bought 3 cups of food and found that the animals were exceptionally used to vehicles on there grounds and knew just where the food was. The emus, llamas, and especially the smelly camels were sticking their heads far into the truck and grabbing the cups of food. It was hilarious, but also a bit scary. You never know what these wild animals will do. Lucas was screaming, and Isabel kept trying to jump in the back seat while the animals stuck their heads in for a closer look (or bite). The drive through lasted about and hour and a half, and then we stopped at the petting zoo area for a quick walk through. Stephen also got upset with the Yak's who got a little to close to his truck with their horns! No damage done....phew!!! We had a great time. The kids love seeing the animals.
